WHO MAY OBTAIN MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN ALASKA?
Patients must possess written documentation from their physician advising that they "might benefit from the medical use of marijuana.", from an approved condition.
APPROVED MEDICAL CONDITIONS?
Cachexia, cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy and other disorders characterized by seizures, glaucoma, HIV or AIDS, multiple sclerosis and other disorders characterized by muscle spasticity, and nausea. Other conditions are subject to approval by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
ALASKA'S MEDICAL MARIJUANA PROGRAM?
State law requires the patient to apply to the department for a registry identification card. At time of application, the patient may provide a "primary care-giver", who upon approval, "controls the acquisition of such medical marijuana and the dosage and frequency of its use by the patient". The state registry is confidential, and state law enforcement may only contact the registry to verify patients and care-givers.
POSSESSION AND CULTIVATION LIMITS:
Grow for yourself. Up to 6 plants, no more than 3 in the flowering stage. May possess up to 1 oz. of marijuana at a time.Care-giver. If you stumble upon a care-giver, make sure collectively, you both possess no greater than the above limit.
MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES IN ALASKA:
Dispensaries or cooperatives are not expressly authorized by the state of Alaska. Additionally, it is not clear how many patients may be cared for by any one care-giver.
